The B.R.A.i.N Method
Using what we know about brain development, asynchronous development, and the neurophysiology of brain-based differences in neurodivergent brains, we start coaching helping people understand the impact of the brain on behavior and discover underlying root causes of behavior that are typically a result of unmet needs, lagging skills, or other underlying brain-based difference that may need support from a professional other than a coach.
Once we understand the underlying needs, we work together to strengthen relationships through shifts in communication and interactions that foster acceptance, trust, emotional safety, and calm.
In each interaction along the way we invite a person to reflect on past actions, envision next steps and their future, and then co-create a path to achieve those next steps. It is through this continual process that we aim to foster a sense of agency in a person's life that comes with developing self-awareness, self-regulation, self-determination, and self-advocacy.
It is in the individualizing of strategies through brainstorming, experimenting, and reflecting that we achieve this agency. Sometimes it is in the opportunity and invitation to be creative that the best strategies are invented, discovered, and adopted.
And it is through a willingness to experiment and practice the new skills, systems, and abilities combined with the just-right level of accountability provided by a coach or family member that new neural pathways are built. Neuroplasticity is what allows for small and steady changes to evolve into lasting success.
